Welcome to the Thomas Index Report for the week of July 12th. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your next cold beer on the beach this summer might be more expensive than you were expecting. Alcoholic beverage prices may spike over the next few months as suppliers consider passing a portion of rising production and shipping costs on to consumers. Back in February, we talked about how the massive popularity of hard seltzers and other canned alcoholic beverages was causing a national shortage of aluminum cans. Five months later, we’re seeing new sourcing surges in the alcoholic beverage market, but for slightly different reasons.
