A Kansas manufacturer of magnetic equipment has acquired an overseas magnet maker in a deal that company officials said would burnish its reputation as “a global leader in magnetic technology.” Bunting said the addition of MagDev would bolster both its product range and technical expertise. The Newton, Kansas-based company designs and manufactures custom magnets, magnetic assemblies, magnetizers, magnet setters, and other products, while its British acquisition specializes in permanent magnets, magnetic assemblies, and soft magnetic solutions. “As our capabilities in the design, development, and manufacturing of magnets, magnetic assemblies, and magnetic products expands, so do our capabilities to help customers in a vast number of industries across the globe,” Bunting President Bob Bunting said in a statement. The deal will combine the companies’ engineering teams and incorporate MagDev’s “extensive” in-house testing and machining capabilities. Officials said it would expand its design and production to include a wide range of sectors and applications, particularly those requiring soft magnetic materials.
