These Famous Leaders Quit Amid the Great Resignation

The numbers are astounding: 4.3 million American workers quit their jobs in August, 4.4 million in September, and another 4.2 in October. But it isn’t just rank-and-file workers who are leaving their roles in search of new opportunities. A number of very high-profile CEOs have also chosen to join the Great Resignation. Here is a roundup of three famous leaders who have quit in 2021 and who their successors are likely to be. Walmart CFO Brett Biggs After 22 years, Walmart’s CFO, Brett Biggs, will be leaving the company on January 21, 2023. Biggs says the decision to move on comes after seeing the tremendous growth of the business. He stated that now “felt like the right time to transition to the next chapter,” both personally and professionally. Briggs plans on pursuing work in various for-profit and non-profit sectors. The large retailer has not yet chosen a successor for Biggs, though other leaders are currently considering internal and external stakeholders. For the time being, Biggs will remain as the outgoing CFO and stay on the board for Walmart’s fintech startup during the transition.
