Foxconn is best known as a contract manufacturer for tech giants, including Apple. But over the years, the Taiwanese company has made it clear that diversification is part of its plan … and the recent announcement that Foxconn was entering talks to purchase the Lordstown Motors electric car plant in Ohio may have offered another clue as to the company’s near term ambitions. Now Foxconn has doubled down on what looks to be a solid foray into electric vehicle development, with the unveiling of three new electric vehicle models. The company established a division it calls Foxtron in March of 2021, saying it would use an open source technology called MIH to develop EVs. And for a company that’s not always putting its money where its mouth is, Foxconn actually had results to show rather quickly.
